FAQ for Members

Answers to questions about how to update a user / member Society’s information on the ICIAM website:
 
  1. How do I get an account, if I am not a member, but would like to be updated with ICIAM news and receive Dianoia (the ICIAM newsletter)?
    You do not need an ICIAM account to subcribe to Dianoia. Simply go to http://www.iciam.org/dianoia and you enter your email at the bottom and click on "Subscribe".
     
  2. How to get a new user account? (For those who do not have one already)
    In the home page of the website, go to LOGIN, click on I WANT TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT and then proceed to create the account. Make sure you fill in all three parts of the form (see left menu bar): Personal, Application, and Contact details. The click "Create new account" at the bottom.

    If your account is not approved within the next 24 hours, please send an email to the ICIAM secretary secretary@iciam.org to notify us of the account creation.
     

  3. How to correct or complete the information concerning my personal user account?
    Login and use the tool EDIT. Finish by saving your changes.
     
  4. How to change or retrieve my password?
    Click on LOGIN on the top right of iciam.org, or go to http://iciam.org/user/login Next, click on "Request new password" On the next page, enter your username, and click on "Email new password".
     
  5. Who can correct or complete the information about a member Society?
    Only the Editor of the Society can change information (see below on how to change the editor). This person is chosen by the Society. It can be its President, one of its Representatives, or another person (IT person, etc) linked to the Society and whom the Society trusts. This person has to have a user account and he/she should take care of updating the information about the Society regularly. In particular any change concerning the President or the Representatives should be implemented as soon as possible after it happens. Note that both must be registered user before you can assign them to a new function.
    1. Only the society's editor can make changes. If you are the editor, make sure you are logged in, see http://iciam.org/user/login
    2. Go to your society's page, and click on the "Edit" tab at the top.
    3. On the next page, click on the "Contact" tab.
    4. On the next page you can edit the society's contact information
    5. Near the bottom, under the "People" tab, you can change the society's President and Representative.
    6. Under "President" enter the name of the new President (spell it correctly, and wait for autocomplete to show a drop-down menu below the name field. Select the President from the drop-down menu. It is important to use the autocomplete, otherwise the system will not recognize the name (NB: Many names start with "Prof").
      END THE CHANGES BY SAVING THEM! (Click the "Save" button at the bottom). Follow the same procedure for the Representative(s).
       
  6. How do I find the page of my society?
    Go to http://iciam.org/members and click on your society's Title column, or Google "iciam YourSociety".
     
  7. How do I find out who the Presdient, Representative, and Editor of my society are?
    Make sure you are logged in, see http://iciam.org/user/login (you can only see the editor, if you are logged in).
    Go to http://iciam.org/members and click on your society's Title column.
     
  8. How do I designate or change the Editor of a member Society?
    Only the current Editor of a society can request a change of editor. To change the author/editor take the following steps:
    1. Make sure you are logged in as editor, see http://iciam.org/user/login
    2. Click the button "Request change of editor" on your society's page (see "How do I find my society's page?" above).
    3. On the next page, select a registered user from the drop-down menue under "Nominated Editor" as Editor for your Society.
      Note: If this person does not have a user account yet, then a user account has to be created first. 
    4. Enter a reason for requesting this change in the next field (you can leave the "Journal entry" empty).
    5. Click "Submit to ICIAM" to finish and submit your changes.

      Once an officer has reviewed the change you will receive an email to confirm the change.

      If your account is not approved within the next 24 hours, please send an email to the ICIAM secretary secretary@iciam.org to notify us of the account creation. If you cannot locate/contact your society's editor, contact secretary@iciam.org to assign a new editor.
       

  9. Alternative way to change a sociey's editor:
    If you are the currrent editor, you can "Edit" the page of the society. On the next page, go to "Authoring information", and there choose the new editor (as above, starting to type the name, then waiting for autocomplete to finish it) and change the date of the beginning of the authorship just below.

    Do not forget to save the changes at the end.
     

  10. How does the Editor of a Society correct or complete the information regarding the Society?
    On the main page of the Society, the Editor (and only he/she) has access to the EDIT tool in this page. Click on EDIT and proceed. Do not forget to save changes before leaving the page!
    To change the address, the president or the representative(s) or the society, the editor edits the page of the society, goes to "Contact" in the left column,  and then makes de changes.  In order to change the president or the representatives, first their accounts have to be created (they must be users of the website) and then they have to be chosen in the correspondent fields in the Contact page of the society. 
    1. Only the society's editor can make changes. If you are the editor, make sure you are logged in, see http://iciam.org/user/login
    2. Go to your society's page, and click on the "Edit" tab at the top.
    3. On the next page, click on the "Contact" tab.
    4. On the next page you can edit the society's contact information
    5. Near the bottom, under the "People" tab, you can change the society's President and Representative.

  11. How do I cancel my account or my subscription to Dianoia?
    Go to your account page (logon or click on your name in the top-right corner). You can unsubscribe from Dianoia by clicking on newsletter, and un-selecting the box next to Dianoia. To cancel your account, scroll to the bottom of your account page, and click on "Cancel account".
