FAQ for Member Societies

Answers to questions about how to update a user / member society’s information on the ICIAM website: 
  • Each member society has its own space.
  • Each member society needs to provide the following information:
    • President: the name and email address of the president of the society (it is recommended to use a permanent email address, e.g. president@MathSoc.org)
    • Representative: the name(s) and email address(es) of the representatives of the society on the ICIAM Board (the number of representatives depends on the type of membership of the society, the president may be a representative of his/her society).
    • Treasurer: the email address(es) to which the annual invoice for the ICIAM dues is to be sent.
    • Editor: This person is chosen by the Society. It can be its President, one of its representatives, or another person (IT person, etc.) linked to the society and whom the society trusts. This person must have a user account, and he/she should take care of updating the information about the society regularly. In particular, any change concerning the President, the representatives, or the treasurer should be implemented as soon as possible after it happens.
    • Address of the society and the url of the society's website.
       
  1. Who can correct or complete the information about a member society? Only the society's editor can make changes!
     
  2. How does the editor of a society correct or complete the information regarding the society? How does the editor of a society change the representative, treasurer or president of the society? On the main page of the society, the editor (and only he/she) has access to the EDIT tool in this page.
    1. On the home page of the website, click on LOGIN.
    2. On the next page, login.
    3. Go to http://iciam.org/members and click on your society's Title column.
    4. Click on "Edit".
    5. On the next page, click on the "Contact" tab.
    6. On the next page you can edit the society's contact information.
    7. First, you can enter or modify the general contact information for your society. Please note that the address given is mapped to the map https://iciam.org/members-map. Do not forget to save your changes!
    8. Near the bottom, under the "People" tab, you can change the society's President, Representatives, and Treasurer.
      • Under "President" click on 'Edit' and enter the name and email address of the new president.
        Click the "Save" button!
      • Follow the same procedure for the representative(s).
      • Adding or changing the information about the treasurer can be done by simple editing the corresponding entry. Do not forget to save your changes!
         
  3. How do I correct the mapping of my society's address?
    The server uses Google maps to map the address entered to a map. If the mapping is not correct, then please use https://www.google.com/maps to find a version of your address that works and use that address in the society's page.
     
  4. How do I designate or change the editor of a member society?
    Only the current editor of a society can change of the editor. If you cannot locate/conatct your society's editor, contact secretary@iciam.org to assign a new editor. The new editor needs to create an account first (see 5.)! To change the editor take the following steps:
    1. In the home page of the website, click on LOGIN.
    2. On the next page, login.
    3. Go to http://iciam.org/members and click on your society's Title column.
    4. Click on "Edit".
    5. On the next page, go to "Authoring information", and there choose the new editor (starting to type the name, then waiting for autocomplete to finish it) and change the date of the beginning of the authorship just below.
    6. Do not forget to save the changes at the end.
       
  5. How to get a new user account? (For those editors who do not have one already)
    1. On the home page of the website, click on LOGIN.
    2. On the next page, click on SIGN-UP.
    3. Proceed to create the account.
    4. Then click on "Create new account" at the bottom.
      If your account is not approved within the next 24 hours, please send an email to the ICIAM secretary secretary@iciam.org to notify us of the account creation.
       
  6. How do I cancel/remove my user account?
    1. On the home page of the website, click on LOGIN.
    2. On the next page, login.
    3. This takes you to your profile/user page. Click on the Edit tab (top)
    4. Scroll to the bottom, and click "Cancel Account" , then confirm.
       
  7. How to correct or complete the information concerning my personal user account?
    1. On the home page of the website, click on LOGIN.
    2. On the next page, login.
    3. This takes you to your profile/user page. Click on the Edit tab (top)
    4. Correct or complete the information.
    5. Finish by saving your changes. In order to do so, click on Save.
       
  8. How to change, retrieve, or recover my password? What do I do if I lost my password?
    1. On the home page of the website, click on LOGIN.
    2. On the next page, click on 'Click here' next to Forgot password?.
    3. On the next page, enter the email address corresponding to your iciam.org account, and click on "Email new password".
      You will receive an email with a link that allows you to edit your information, and set a new password.
