The Korean Mathematical Society (KMS) is the leading academic organization of mathematicians in Korea that has made significant strides in recent years. Notably, the KMS has attained the distinction of being promoted to IMU level 5, and June Huh, who received his education in Korea, was awarded a Fields Medal in 2022. Furthermore, Koreans have consistently demonstrated exceptional performance in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).
At present, the KMS is focused on developing educational systems and research that emphasize innovative and practical approaches to real-world challenges, which is necessary for the development of 'Industrial and Applied Mathematics' to lead the era of full-fledged artificial intelligence (AI) while continuing to advance mainstream theoretical mathematics.
