1) Board meeting 2009 CHANGE of dates!!!!!!!!!!!
Register by 1 April 2009!!!!!
Due to a state visit Norway had to shift the handing over
of the Abel prize for one week. As was the idea that the
Board Meeting is in the same week as the Abel Prize ceremony
we have to shift the Board meeting.
The new dates are as follows:
Board meeting: Thursday, 21 May 2009, 9:00 - 18:00

to take part in the following events related to the
Abel Prize.
- Abel Prize Ceremony, Tuesday, 19 May 2009, 14:00
You have to be seated in the hall at 13:45
- Abel Lectures, Wednesday, 20 May 2009, all day
- Abel Party, Wednesday, 20 May 2009, evening
Note there is a laying of a wreath the Abel Memorial
on Monday, 18 May 2009 in the afternoon. This is open for
everybody, i.e. no special invitation is needed.

It is important, that the board members, which
will be attending are known early, say no later than
18 March 2009 so that
- the academy can plan the invitations
- we can reserve rooms in an economical hotel.
Please report the board members who will attend as soon as
possible, but no later than 18 March 2009 to
our
secretary Alistair D. Fitt

We need these board members and their e-mail so that we
can deliver to them additional information. No that for
those who register later than 18 march 2009 we can not
guarantee invitations by the Norwegian Academy to
events related to the Abel Prize.
2) Call for nominations for a President-Elect
The board will elect in its meeting on 21 May 2009 a
President-Elect. The successful candidate will take up
the term as President-Elect on 1 October 2009 and will
automatically become President for the term, 1 October
2011 - 30 September 2015, and be Past-President from
1 October 2015 - 30 September 2017.
Member societies are asked to nominate candidates for
President-Elect. Such a nomination should contain
- vitae
- a statement by the candidate that she/he will
accept, when elected.
This information should be sent prior to
20 March 2009 to Alistair D. Fitt. According to our
Bylaws nominations can also be made on the floor
at the board meeting. However, to make the process
more stable it would be better to make nominations
earlier. Nominations made prior to 20 March 2009 will
be sent to Board Members slightly less than two month
before the Board Meeting.
3) Prize committee for ICIAM Prizes 2011
The following seven members have accepted to serve on the committee:

In brackets it is indicated who chairs a subcommittee (subC)
All members of the Prize committee are public domain.
The members of the subC, except for its chair, are not
pubic domain.

4) Site visit for 2015 and officers meeting.
The visiting site committee consits of

The visits will be one day visits and take place as follows:
Beijing, Monday, 1 December 2008
Tokyo, Wednesday, 3 December 2008
The officers meeting will on invitation of the Singapore
Mathematical Society on Saturday, 6 December 2008. There
will be a joint event Singapore Mathematical Society
and ICIAM on Friday, 5 December 2008, in Singapore.
