1) Board meeting Vancouver
The board meeting Vancouver will take place on
Saturday, 23 July from 09:00 - 18:00
in the Hotel Nr. 10 on the list of Hotels you find on the congress
web site. It is
Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside
this hotel is the closest to the venue, about one block away. Note
that the invited speaekrs will also be staying in this hotel. It
is time now to make reservations.
We plan to go or a common dinner after this meeting.
2) Application to ICSU by ICIAM
On 8 February 2011 the following e-mail was circutlated to the
members of ICSU:

In brief: The following countries and unions have already supported
our appliction:
Countries: Australia, Brazil, Chile, France, Norway, Sweden, United
Kingdom.
Unions: IAU, IMU, IUTAM, IUGG
hence we have enough support and if no member protests before 1 April
2011 we are an associated society.
Thanks to everybody for cooperating to get this excellent result. In
the meantime we also received the support by IUPsyS.
3) Meeting of presidents: Vancouver Sunday, 17 July 2011, 9:00 - 18:00
The main idea is to bring together the presidents of our member
societies for an informal presentation on what ICIAM is doing and
what could be done in addition. Especially with associated societies
presdients are often far away from the objectives of ICIAM. It would
also be good to get an impression on the structure of our governance.
Terhe will be a common lunch. We shall arrange that the end of the
meeting allows for registrating for the congresso n Sunday.

4) ICIAM IMU working group on Journal Ranking and Pricing

As this report was delivered after the officers meeting of ICIAM
in Shanghai, 12 - 13 February 2011, the officers couldn ot make
a decision on the topic. The IMU Executive Committee has dicussed the
outcome 0n 27-28 February about has sofar not officieally infomred
ICIAM. However you find a preliminary version of the actions planed in
the file actions_2.pdf.

5) Minutes for the 24 August 2010 meeting of the ICIAM Board
The minutes are on the internal web site. Please check these and
report suggested changes to our Secretary Alistair Fitt. In addition
note that these minutes call for certain actions, e.g. nominations
for the next election.
6) Statutes Miminal changes committee
The minimal chagnes committee consisted of Jose Cuminato, Helge Holden,
Alistair Fitt, Rolf Jeltsch and Barbara Keufitz. In the officers meeting
in Shanghai all but Helge Holden were presetn and discussed these
minimal changes. A draft was propsoed and Alistair Fitt will contact
Helge Holden for possible changes. Once the proposal is finalized it
will be circulated.
7) Initiative Mathemtical Congress of the Americas MCA
Thre has been an initiative to create a new quadrannial congress series
calles MCA, Mathematics congress of the Americas. An initial
meeting has been held at the joint math meetings in New Orleans.
As ICIAM presidnet I was connected to the discussion through the
telefone. The idea is that in order to avoid the ICM's, ICIAM's and
ECM's one would start with it in 2013 and possible locations could be
in Brazil or Mexico. A small group is persuing the
issue in a meeting in May in Rio de Janeiro. My personal impression was
that applied mathematics is not well represented in the meeting in
Rio. the official 'positon' of ICIAM is tht we would like to see
applied mathematics well represented in the MCA's.
