Dear Society President, Dear Representative of a Member Society,
There is one item in this letter that requests a response. For the
first issue of the ICIAM Newsletter, we are soliciting news! See
item 2.

1) By-laws motion
The e-ballot for the "Minimal Changes to Bylaws" motion has been completed.
The result is that the motion was passed. The final voting was
15 for
0 against
0 absentions
Thanks to all who participated.
2) Newsletter
The officers and managing editor Sean Bohun are working on an inaugural
issue of the ICIAM Newsletter. We invite each society to submit news. For the
first issue, with tentative issue date January 2013, it would be good to have
submissions by the end of November. Forming an editorial committee is an
important decision that should be made by the Board. However, we would like
to experiment with having each member society assign a "reporter" who will
contribute articles. These might consist of society news (for example, new
initiatives or successes that might interest other societies), reports on special
events, national or regional news that impacts ICIAM members, or opinion
pieces.
3) Prizes
It is a pleasure to announce that all seven societies that have been providing
funding for the prizes have affirmed their intention to provide funding at the
new rate of $5,000 US per prize in 2015. This is a wonderful declaration of
support for ICIAM.
The prize committee for 2015 has been formed:
Committee chair: Barbara Keyfitz
Collatz chair: Donatella Marini
Lagrange chair: Felix Otto
Maxwell chair: Pam Cook
Pioneer chair: Takashi Kako
Su Buchin chair: Philippe Ciarlet
and invitations for the subcommittees have been issued. (The names of
subcommittee members are secret until the prizes are announced in Sept
2014.)
