Dear Presidents and Representatives of ICIAM member societies,
Let me start 2017 wishing all of you, and your families and your societies, of course, the best for the New Year. Today many people all over the world are wishing
each other good health, and all kinds of success. Coming from the ICIAM President, my wishes contain all that, of course, but also contain the hope that this year our community of applied and industrial mathematicians will become stronger and will manage to reaffirm the importance of Mathematics for the future of our societies and their technological advancement.
As I already said in the last letter I sent to you, this year is an important one for ICIAM, since we will be electing the next president and selecting the site of the ICIAM 2023 congress.
All this, and more, will be done at the next ICIAM Board meeting that will take place in Valencia on May 20th, 2017, and in which I hope to meet many of you.
