Dear Presidents and Representatives of member societies of ICIAM,
It is my great pleasure and honour to write to you as the president of ICIAM, a position that I officially took on October 1st. From that day, the new team of officers starts our term. In addition to myself, Maria Esteban will be the past-president, Sven Leyffer as Secretary, Heike Fassbender as Treasurer, Wil Schilders and Luis Vega as Officers-at-Large.
First of all, I would like to thank the Officers who just left (Jose Alberto Cuminato, Taketomo Mitsui, and Volker Mehrmann) for their long-time and wonderful service to ICIAM,and to welcome the new officers (Heike Fassbender, Luis Vega and Wil Schilders).
In particularly I would like to express my respect and sincere thanks to Maria Esteban, who ran ICIAM with great strength and wisdom in the last four years.
During my presidency I will spare no efforts in serving ICIAM and our community, promoting industrial and applied mathematics, strengthening exchanges and collaborations between academia and industry, promoting international collaborations, enlarging the number of member societies, and exploring possibilities of launching new projects. I believe that the inputs from member societies should and will play a key role in ICIAM.
Therefore, I encourage all of you, and each of you contacting me whenever you have questions or ideas or suggestions that could be helpful to our society and our community.
You can just write to me (or any other of the ICIAM Officers) and with the help and the advice of the other Officers, I/we will try to answer at best as possible.
