Letter from the ICIAM President

Dear  members of all ICIAM member societies:

The COVID-19 pandemic is not over, and it seems that it will continue to affect us for quite a period of time.

The pandemic does affect our academic life greatly. For example, basically all international conferences this summer have been cancelled or changed into online events. Nevertheless, I am happy to see that the quarantine did not stop the work of our member societies; particularly, many of our member societies have organized various activities and projects on the fight against the pandemic.  I am also happy to see that academic exchanges are going on well, as many lectures/seminars/talks originally scheduled in a conference, or a university, or an institute, are now all online, which makes them available on the internet to be accessible by even more people worldwide.

About ICIAM's board meeting this year: We are still hoping that the situation will get better so that we can hold the board meeting on September 26 (postponed from May) in Glasgow. We are expecting to make a final decision by the end of July, whether to hold the board meeting as a person-to-person meeting in Glasgow or as a virtual online meeting.

   With my best regards,

  Ya-xiang Yuan
  President of ICIAM
