As announced earlier in Dianoia, and in Wil Schilders' letter this month, beginning with the January 2025 issue of ICIAM Dianoia (Volume 13, Issue 1), Poti Cuminato will take over as Editor-in-Chief of the ICIAM newsletter. Along with the ICIAM Editorial Committee (which will be renewed, as most of the committee members have completed a four-year term), Poti will be working with a team in San Carlos: Raquel Vieira and Leonardo Zacarin. You will find a sample of Leo's journalism in the article in this issue on the annual meeting of SBMAC.
Here is a little bit about them. (See the end of the article for the meaning of the acronyms.)
Raquel Vieira
Raquel is a journalist who graduated in 1998 and has been dedicated to television journalism for 25 years, working as a reporter, presenter, text editor, and editor-in-chief. Currently, she is a press officer focused on scientific journalism, working at a FAPESP CEPID: CeMEAI. She is also a video and digital content producer for the Data Science MBA at USP/ICMC/CeMEAI and a freelancer in press relations at ICMC/USP-São Carlos. She has previously worked in corporate journalism in the marketing departments of major companies in Brazil and abroad, and she is a volunteer journalist for projects related to the third sector.
Leonardo Zacarin
Leonardo Zacarin holds a degree in Journalism and has been working in the field of science communication for 10 years, serving major institutions such as USP, FGV, SBM, SBMAC, TYAN-TWAS, among others.
He is currently the owner of Start Communications, a company specializing in news articles, videos, graphic materials, websites, social media management, and other activities aimed at disseminating science to the broader community, as well as maintaining relationships with the press.
