At the request of a member society, ICIAM will endorse speakers’ invitation(s) to a meeting organized by the society. Such an activity would be called an ICIAM Lecture (or an ICIAM session if more than one speaker is available).
The society through the scientific committee of the meeting will submit relevant information on the meeting to the ICIAM Secretary and suggest the invited speaker. The ICIAM Officers will discuss the proposal in their monthly meetings and will report on their decision to the scientific committee of the meeting. If positive, the lecture by the speaker can be advertised as ICIAM Lecture.
The society must submit the request to ICIAM at least eight (8) months before the meeting. Such a proposal would not bring any financial cost to, or financial contributions from, ICIAM. However, it would be a way for ICIAM to support the member societies and increase the visibility and representativity of ICIAM and its member societies.
Some invited speakers may have funds for their travel and/or accommodation, in which case the organization would not need to take such expenses into account in the budget.
