ICIAM Dianoia Volume 13 Issue 3 July 2025

Newspapers in the process of being read with coffee mug, spectacles and pen in background

The July issue of DIANOIA highlights the growing concern of our community with the integrity of scientific publishing in mathematics. A joint group from IMU and ICIAM presented a report and recommendations to combat practices such as paper mills, predatory journals, and citation cartels. In this issue, we also pay tribute to the recently deceased Mario Primicerio, a notable mathematician, former mayor of Florence, and former member of ICIAM, for his scientific and humanitarian contributions.

We share information and the conference calendar of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). We also present the work of GAMM Juniors, a European group of young researchers with initiatives in training, mentoring, and scientific dissemination. Among the news, we report on the creation of the Learned Societies Forum in the United Kingdom and report on the importance of academic freedom and international cooperation. This issue also highlights relevant events and interesting news involving our field of activity. Enjoy reading!
