Modelling through thick and thin: the honey dipper ... with a twist

Direct numerical simulation of liquid film dynamics around a rotating circular cylinder. Inspired by the question of what volume of honey can sustainably be held on a rotating knife posed by H.K. Moffatt. See also Reduced-order modelling of thick inertial flows around rotating cylinders by Wray and Cimpeanu.

Active Wave–Particles and Lorenz Chaos Rahil Valani

An active wave–particle entity emerges when a walking droplet is guided by the memory of its self-generated waves. A minimal mathematical model of the system in the infinite-memory limit reduces to the diffusionless Lorenz equations, linking active matter, chaos, and hydrodynamic quantum analogs.
