2021 is a year of continuity for the GAMM leadership, which changes every three years. Jorg Schröder, a mechanical engineer from the University of Duisburg-Essen, is serving from 2020 to 2022; with the past-president, Heike Faßbender, an applied mathematician from the Technische Universität Braunschweig, serving as vice president. GAMM keeps a careful balance between applied mathematics and mechanics, with presidents from mathematics in years 1,2, or 3 modulo 6, and from mechanics in years 4, 5 and 0 modulo 6. The vice president is the past-president. The representatives in the ICIAM board, Peter Benner (Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems, Magdeburg) and Sergio Conti (University of Bonn) also remain in charge.
