The ICIAM Board met online on October 30, 2021. The meeting was supposed to be held in Tokyo, but moved to an online format due to the uncertainty of travel restrictions. Over 60 participants from around the world engaged on a range of business items. The Board voted that the ICIAM dues for 2022 remain unchanged from 2021, and that payment of the 2022 dues is voluntary to reflect a possible loss of income that members may have suffered due to COVID19.

Two new members were welcomed into the ICIAM family: the Hong Kong Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (HKSIAM) as new medium-sized...

The Board meeting will be held on October 30th in Tokyo. We are still uncertain as to whether the meeting will be in-person, virtual, or mixed, and we hope to make a decision by July 15th. In case of an in-person Board meeting, we are also discussing arrangements for virtual access for members who otherwise cannot attend due to travel restrictions. The vote for ICIAM President-Elect will be held electronically to comply with our Bylaws (which state the the new President-Elect takes office on October 1st).

Dear Presidents and Representatives of ICIAM Societies,

We hope this email finds you well and healthy.

We have two requests before the end of 2020:

  1. ICIAM supports conferences in developing countries in the years when no ICIAM congress is held. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the funds earmarked for this purpose are currently not being used. ICIAM is therefore looking for ideas on how ICIAM could support activities in developing countries in the current situation. Please send suggestions to treasurer [at] iciam.org (treasurer[at]iciam[dot]org), secretary [at] iciam.org (secretary[at]iciam[dot]org), and president [at] iciam.org (president[at]iciam[dot]org).
  2. The minutes of the 2020 Board meeting...

Dear Representatives of ICIAM Member Societies,

I hope that all of you are doing fine, even though parts of the world are still in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As you know, ICIAM is a member of the International Science Council (ISC). And ICIAM has a committee to deal with

issues related to ISC policies and projects. The Chair person of the ISC committee of ICIAM is our past-president,

Professor Maria Esteban.     Often ISC members are asked to propose names or answer surveys or

propose ideas about topics suggested by the ISC. The ISC committee tries to do it, but often it does not...

The meeting will last about two hours to accommodate the different time zones of our members. Consequently, we will concentrate on the main topics.

We are very grateful to the IMA, Iain Duff, and his colleagues who had offered their generous hospitality and who had already organized an in-person meeting in Glasgow.
